MENTONE FILM AWARDS

We are rolling out the red carpet at the close of the Mentone Film Festival.  Awards will be given to the best film genres.  Please arrive 15 minutes early to the 7:30 PM start time on Wed, Nov 13th.  The Dress Code is Semi-Formal.

Synopsis

 Alberca:   Run Time: 18 min. Synopsis: A young woman's passion for swim leads her to an important new friendship.   
 As Seen On TV:  Run Time: 10 min. A lonely toy collector, deeply unsatisfied with his life, seeks to find his favorite childhood toy.   
 D For Doc's:  Run Time: 15 min. Synopsis: A new film professor struggles to find pride in his lacking, uninspired students.
 Drug Addition: Run Time: 1 hr. 26 min. Synopsis: A young man seeks to quickly raise money selling drugs after losing his job- but this is not easily done.   
 Expend: Run Time: 4 min. In the words of the filmmakers, Expend is a film showcasing a man’s endless hunt for elusive energy sources in a decaying world.   

Gage:   Run Time: 15 min. 37 sec. Gage, a severely injured veteran, becomes unfit in society due to his physical and mental trauma.   
 In Her Shoes:  Run Time: 5 min. A young child's struggle with insanity after the sudden death of a loved one.
 Jacob + Malika:  Run Time: 12 min.   An unlikely pair finds themselves at war with prejudices due to media tension.   
 Lavender's Blue:  Run Time: 6 min. A totalitarian society spies on its inhabitants through camera, while restricting the freedom of said residents. This narrative showcases the vocal minority at whits end.   
 Mauvaises Têtes (Bad Heads):  Run Time: 14.18 min. The story of an odd woman, Jenny, who loses her mind in the search for love and decides to create her own lover.   

Mommy's Little Monster:  Run Time: 11 min. 45 sec.   A mother and son on the run, escape to an isolated mountain cabin where their fears catch up with them.   
 Snaggletooth:  Run Time: 8 min. 48 sec.   A mother and daughter share an unfortunate dental problem.
 Sylphvania Grove: Run Time: 18.40 min. Synopsis: The imaginative mind of a young girl creates a vivid new world of her own.   
 The Last Doll Lady:  Run Time: 21 min. 14 sec.   Documentary short covering the importance of personal action and dedication in regard to injustice. This film covers the Last Doll Lady- an original figure in the Dolls for Democracy program.
 The Man Who Sold The World:  Run Time: 21 min. An established, well-off man copes with the loss of his wife, turning to alcohol and drug-use. This, however, is never without consequence.   

The Spirit Seam:  Run Time: 14 min. 52 sec. Synopsis: An inseparable pair of grandfather and granddaughter realize that familial bond is eternal in this mixed media animated short.
 Tin Can:  Run Time: 21 min.   Synopsis: An injured rodeo clown continues to find happiness entertaining children, but finds obstacles in his path.   
 WOKEN:  Run Time: 2 min. A Chinese immigrant struggles with misogyny and racism in her relationship   
 Zanja Creek:  Run Time: 7min.   Local residents recount the history of the Zanja Creek.
